Why Daily Journaling is Important
Any college student will tell you that the stress that college puts on a person is unfathomable, to say the least. So instead of crying in the library surrounded by accounting textbooks, maybe there’s a better solution.
Daily journaling has many different benefits to the creative mind. First, it provides a building block to better writing. To daily synthesize your thoughts enough to write them out on a page is an excellent exercise in itself. Each day carries with it its own timeline. Organizing the events on your day and putting it on paper can increase your ability to critically think and write better essays in the classroom.
Journaling daily can also lead to self revelations that you never thought you’d come to. Through reflecting on your daily tasks, meditations, thoughts and conversations, you may realize something in yourself that you wouldn’t have come to had you not written it down. What an amazing experience it would be to go back to your journal years later and see how far you’ve come in your journey as a person.
Continually, journaling can lead to you reaching your goals. If you set goals in the beginning, writing about your experiences each day, you will eventually come to them. It helps you to keep your priorities in check and hold yourself accountable. It’s beneficial to set goals and it’s incredible to watch them come to fruition.
A broad framework of what you can do with a daily journal is encouraged. For example, you can paste pictures of yourself and your friends, draw doodles, make timelines, and write down quotes from people that inspire you. It’s like your own personal scrapbook that no one has to see unless you want them to.
Finally, daily journaling is a great outlet for your worries, rants and disagreements. Imagine it as somewhat of a purgatory for your daily misunderstandings and qualms. It’s therapeutic to write down everything and watch it all come together on a page, even if it isn’t all together in your own life’s perception.
